 RANAWANA  PURANA  RAJAMAHA  VIHARAYA

One day we went on a pilgrimage with our family members. Ranawana purana rajamaha wiharaya is one of those visited places. That is a beautiful temple.



This temple is located in the Pilimathalawa area in Kandy district. This temple is built in a beautiful mountain environment. Many Buddhist come to worship this temple. I think this temple has long history. IT is also believed that the history of Ranawana Vihara dates back to the reign of king IV Buwanekabahu during the Gampola period.

And there is a special something about this shrine. That is the tallest walking Buddha statue in Sri Lanka sitting in this temple. This is also considered to be the tallest walking Buddha statue in the world. This Buddha is 80 feet high. The reason why the beauty of this place has grown further is that the special occasions mentioned in Buddhism have erected on the statue. Here are some photos of some of those occasions. 


I really like visit this temple. I have been several times. But no matter how much you go, you will never get bored.

There is a favorite dish. 😋 This is a delicious dish made by our ancestors.                     It is made by drying the leftover rice and frying it in deep oil.  This dried rice looks like Pori when fried in thick oil. And  adding a little coconut, sugar and salt according to taste. Some people use melted honey instead of sugar. It also has a sweet taste.😋 My grandmother first made this kind of food for me. She taught me how to make it.💗 I don't know  what is the name of this dish.😁 I think, it doesn't have a name. If you want to taste it, you have to make and eat this. It is very good while drinking tea.  You can also make Aggala from this by adding a little more honey.  This can be known as a delicious dish that makes you want to eat it when you see it.😊💗
